The shaded circles on the maps show existing coverage area. These circles are NOT exact so if you are located inside one of the circles it does not guarantee coverage likewise if you are just outside one of the circles it does not mean you can't get service. A topography test is still necessary to determine availability at your location.

Rhino Blaze is fixed-point wireless internet service. We have strategically placed access points throughout our coverage area to provide high bandwidth capable links. Fixed-point refers to wireless service from our tower POPs to your residence or business. Fixed-point service is not nomadic, nor can a standard WiFi client such as a laptop connect to it.
Rhino This space is reserved for "How it works"
Rhino Communications has become synonymous with providing the best possible Internet at the best possible price along with first class customer support since 1995. We provide straight forward pricing so you don't have to buy a bundle of other services to get our best price. This is no exception with our Rhino Blaze wireless, with a wide variety of speeds up to 1 Gbps. Sign up today!
Rhino dial-up operates at 56Kbps. Our Rhino Blaze service operates from 512Kbps and above depending on the service plan subscribed to, a performance improvement of 10 to 75 times dial-up. Our Rhino Blaze service is ‘always on’ so you don’t need to re-establish your connection each time you want to use it. Our Rhino Blaze service does NOT require a phone line.
The major advantage to the Rhino Blaze service is you do NOT need a telephone or cable TV infrastructure. This allows us to serve customers on a much broader scale since we do not depend on someone elses infrastructure. We also offer better upload speeds than comparably priced DSL or Cable Modem service. We also have first class customer service and you will speak to a live person who is willing to help.
Most people confuse Wireless Broadband with Satellite internet service thinking they are they same thing, when in fact they are completely different. We use a microwave point to multipoint system that uses short range links. The latency (ping times) will be comparible to DSL and Cable Modem. Satellite service has a very high latency because of the distance between the two satellites. With such a high latency you will NOT be able to Game, run VPN's, or use Voice Over IP. In most cases Satellite should be your last choice for Internet service!
No, we do not require phone lines. So you do NOT need a home phone with our service.
You may have heard in the news or from friends that Wireless Internet has security concerns. There is some truth to this if you use the 802.11b or Wi-Fi. The default settings in Wi-Fi products allows anyone to access that product with a compatible wireless card which is found in any laptop produced in the last couple of years. However, it is very easy to secure the connection with proper settings.
The wireless system that Rhino Communications uses is NOT Wi-Fi and therefore can't be intercepted with off the shelf equipment. We use equipment manufactured by Motorola known as Canopy. There are 3 main points of interest that make this system secure and reliable:
- Propietary. The Canopy system is completely propiertary from the Radio Frequency technology to the data protocols that it uses.
- Double Authentication. Not only do you have to have a Motorola Radio we also us double authentication mechanism. We Authenticate the Radio on our towers and we authenticate the MAC of the connecting equipment i.e. Router, Computer, Laptop, etc.
- Encryption. The Canopy system data is encrypted with industry standard over-theair DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption. Also available is AES (Advanced Encrypted Standard) encryption, so sophisticated it would take a trillion years to decode.
Weather will affect a poorly designed wireless system. We have designed or system to withstand signal degradation due to heavy rain, snow, or fog. We use a mixture of frequencies and short hops to overcome pitfalls in certain areas. We have designed our system to handle at least a 10 db fade margin.
Our network is designed for low latency (ping times) and reliability, so online gaming is not an issue and will work better than other broadband connections.
You will need a Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC). A NIC is not included in the self-install kit, but most computers in recent years have shipped with a NIC installed. If you are unsure if you have a NIC or not sure if you have an adequate computer to work please Contact us.
It is not uncommon for homes or businesses to have more than one computer these days. You actually have a few different options available to you. There is no additional charge per month for additional computers. You will need a router to "share" the connection with multiple computers. You can purchase a Wireless Router from us that includes 4 hardwire ports for an extra $80.00 which includes is installing and configuring the router for you. You also have the option to purchase an off the shelf router from your local retailer. Though our tech support department and installers has a vast knowledge of most router products, it will be your responsibility to configure and connect your router to the DSL Modem. If you decide to purchase a router or already have one we Highly recommend D-Link, NetGear, or Belkin. Contact us if you are unsure or have any more questions.
We install a small antenna at your location. Depending on the distance and strength of signal we can typically install in one of the following locations roof, attic, or eve. We then will run a Cat5 cable from our antenna into your home connected to your router or computer. Please view our pictures of standard insallations here. Some installations may require the use of tripod, longer poles, or larger antennas. We will survey your location and discuss with you the best options for your location before we mount or anything at your location. If you have any questions about the process please feel free to Contact us.
We can normally have your service installed within 4 to 6 business days in most cases, sometimes sooner.
No. The installation charge is to cover our labor and miscallenous items during install. Rhino Communications will retain ownership of all equipment used to obtain signal from one of our towers until customer cancels service and must be returned and/or scheduled for pickup upon cancellation. That means Rhino Communications will support and maintain the equipment free of charge, however; customer will be responsible for theft and abuse of equipment.
No. The installation is a one time charge. If you move to an area where we can provide you service then there will be a $75.00 transfer fee. If you need to move your service click here.
There is a 12 month contract required with our Rhino Blaze service. If you wish to cancel service before the 12 month period then the Early Cancellation Fee (ECF) will apply. If you have any questions please contact us for more information.
Yes! There are two ways you can get "FREE" service. You can pay your bill 11 months in advance and receive the 12 month free! You can also take advantage of our REFERRAL PROGRAM. The way the referral program works is like this, if you refer a friend to our service and they signup you will get 1 month free service. A few things to remember is that they must supply your account name at the time of install. They will not be allowed to call the next day with the referral information. The other thing to remember and most important is that there is NO LIMIT to the number of referrals you can use. If you would like more information about the REFERRAL PROGRAM please contact us.
The easiest way to signup for Rhino Blaze is online. You can also contact us if you prefer.
